Job summary

Hydro Extrusion USA, LLC in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Lead Operator to manage daily press crew activities and ensure safety, quality and efficiency in aluminum extrusion production.

The role requires coordinating die changes, guiding teams, and maintaining production targets while complying with work instructions and customer specs. Night shift premium applies; full-time, permanent position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in aluminum extrusion manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Lead Operator, Press Crew Operator, or similar leadership role within an extrusion environment.
  • Proven experience coordinating and directing press crew activities.
  • Experience performing die changes, startup and shutdown procedures, and troubleshooting extrusion processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
  • Experience with production reporting systems and manufacturing documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily press crew operations by prioritizing safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, and adherence to established extrusion processes and procedures.
  • Conduct shift-start safety toolbox talks and perform routine safety and housekeeping audits, escalating concerns and corrective actions to the Extrusion Supervisor.
  • Review production schedules and provide clear direction to team members to ensure production goals, customer requirements, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Monitor crew performance throughout the shift, identify operational issues, and communicate performance, training, or process concerns to leadership.
  • Oversee the production of quality extrusions by ensuring compliance with work instructions, quality procedures, and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate and support die changes, minimizing equipment downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Complete accurate production, quality, and operational documentation and support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the department.

Starting Rate of pay: $28.75/hour
Shifts Available and Hours:

Day Shift - 6AM to 6PM EOWEO

Night Shift - 6PM to 6AM EOWEO

Shift Premium: $1 additional for working night shift
What you will be doing

What will make you successful?
Required Education and Experience
  • Minimum 2years of experience in aluminum extrusion manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Lead Operator, Press Crew Operator, or similar leadership role within an extrusion environment.
  • Proven experience coordinating and directing press crew activities.
  • Experience performing die changes, startup and shutdown procedures, and troubleshooting extrusion processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
  • Experience with production reporting systems and manufacturing documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of aluminum extrusion processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of quality requirements, process controls, and extrusion specifications.
  • Proficiency using quality measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work instructions, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Thorough knowledge of LPL and manufacturing reporting systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including data entry and production reporting.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
