Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Press Operator in Smyrna, TN. You will be responsible for fully operating the press, setting guides, inspecting output, and ensuring dimensional accuracy.

The role requires strict safety adherence and precision to meet customer specifications while contributing to on-time production and quality. Responsibilities

• Operate the press and set equipment guides.
• Inspect product and measure dimensions.
• Record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface requirements.
• Thread coil through leveler/flatteners and feed unit.
• Set up dies and program parameters for the press.
• Make minor adjustments to achieve compliant product.
• Monitor and report non-conformances to supervisor.

Job description

As a Press Operator at our facility, you would be responsible for complete operation of the press including setting equipment guides, inspecting product, measuring dimensions of completed products and aligning machine parts. In order to be successful, you should be safety-focused and detail oriented. Come add to our reputation of continued customer satisfaction.

Friday-Sunday 5:00 a.m.-5:30p.m. Starting pay $18.75 up to $23.75

How you'll contribute to our company:

• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
• Check and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface requirement and ensure compliance with customer and production requirements (record if required)
• Thread coil thru leveler/flattener, feed unit
• Setup dies in the press with the part and scrap chutes/conveyors
• Setup the press/levelers/flattener to the proper program or required parameters
• Make minor adjustments to the press/dies/conveyors to produce product at a reasonable rate
• Run coil at maximum rate that will produce complying product
• Monitor strip condition to ensure compliance with customer requirements and production instructions
• Setup skids on the parts conveyors to ensure no disruption of production
• Remove scrap from press as necessary, empty hoppers
• Clean machine and entire area
• Convey customer specific packaging specifications
• Communicate non-compliance or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead

• Ability to use tape measure, Rockwell tester, digital calipers, digital/dial indicators, height gauge, computer, part specific gauges and micrometers
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
