Job summary

Mill Rock Packaging Inc. seeks a Press Operator II to support the Press Department, learn from the 1st Press Operator, and help operate and maintain the printing press. You will assist with make-ready, set-up, and ongoing adjustments to ensure quality during production.

The role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and basic computer skills, with opportunities for growth in maintenance and press operation responsibilities in a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

  • Experience in operation of sheet-fed press equipment and basic offset press functions.
  • Ability to work as part of a press team and support operators.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to take feedback.
  • Basic computer skills or ability to learn.
  • Routine operational maintenance and minor repairs under guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Insert packing sheets on plate cylinder to build up plate to printing height.
  • Fasten reinforcing bars to offset blankets, and install plates and blankets on press cylinders.
  • Make adjustments to achieve the required printing pressure.
  • Adjust press machine parts such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, jogging devices, tapes, and cams.
  • Assist in removing and replacing worn rollers and adjusting pressure between rollers.
  • Wash blankets and clean ink distributing rollers and ink fountains.
  • Assist Press Operator by making color/register corrections and press adjustments before production.

MRP is searching for passionate and agile Press Operator II who is a problem-solver and excited by challenges and the opportunity to build something great with us. As a Press Operator II in the Press Department, you will be responsible for supporting the 1st Press Operator with make-ready, operating, and maintaining the printing press.

What will you do in this role?

  • Experience in the operation of sheet-fed press equipment and basic offset press functions a must.
  • Skill in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment under guidance of senior level Press Operators.
Preferred Requirements

  • Prior experience running a press machine KBA preferred

The Physical Requirements And Work Environment
Physical Demands
  • Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 2 hours per shift).
  • Lifting/Carrying: Regularly lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent use of hands and arms for machine operation and material handling.
  • Visual/Manual Requirements: Ability to read gauges, color, measure materials, and perform quality checks.
Environmental Conditions
  • Noise Level: Exposure to moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection provided.
  • Safety Gear: Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and gloves required.
  • Other Factors: Exposure to dust, ink, or chemicals used in production.
Schedule & Work Hours
  • Full-time position; standard schedule is 6:00pm-6:00am 3 days/weekend Friday-Sunday (36 hours per week).
