Job description

We are excited to be hiring a Day Press Operator

This position will work from 6am to 6pm on a 2, 2, 3 schedule. The Press Operator is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of all presses and related production equipment. This individual is also responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and productivity of the machine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Perform standard set-up, maintenance, and operation of the press, optimizing for maximum efficiency while complying with equipment specifications, safety protocols, and company procedures.
  2. Review and coordinate job requirements with client specifications to ensure high-quality output.
  3. Conduct press checks with clear and effective communication.
  4. Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for job functions, processes, and recommend improvements for efficiency.
  5. Operate presses and production equipment following safety policies, procedures, and rules, including the use of appropriate safety gear, maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
  6. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Receive instructions, material requirements, prints, and work orders.
  • Plan work procedures accordingly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and machine setup as needed.
  • Operate machines to produce parts according to instructions and blueprints.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections to ensure dimensions are correct and within tolerances.
  • Make fine adjustments to bring parts within specified tolerances.
  • Place finished materials on pallets or in containers with appropriate documentation.
  • Move materials to next destination and stage as required.
Desired Experience:
  • Ability to lead by example, coach, and train team members.
  • Accurately read production logs and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of machine processes and steel defects.
  • Ability to write accurate reject reports.
  • Problem-solving skills involving standardized situations with concrete variables.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand instructions.
  • Perform quality checks and surface inspections.
  • Physical ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds occasionally, and 10-25 pounds regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities include seeing small details, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Forklift and crane training will be provided.
  • Required OSHA safety training, with possible First Responder (First Aid and CPR) training.
  • Valid driver's license required.
