Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an assistant for a team of press operators to ensure quick and efficient make-readies for multicolor flexographic printing. You will assist with setup, repair, and maintenance of the press, and perform line clearance and documentation tasks.

The role requires basic computer skills, arithmetic, and ability to read measurements. English communication, good attendance, and willingness to work overtime are essential. This is an on-site position in Michigan.

Qualifications

• Must have basic personal computer skills (email, word processing, etc.).
• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude or meet a mechanical test requirement.
• Must be able to pass a basic reading test.
• Must be able to read and comprehend ruler measurements.
• Must read and communicate effectively in English.
• Must maintain good attendance.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to perform all essential functions with/without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Review job ticket and select the proper type and quantity of material.
• Assist in material change-overs and ensure correct material for production runs.
• Clean and maintain press equipment and general areas.
• Move loads of printed and unprinted stock as needed.
• Assist press operator with preventative maintenance of the press.
• Complete required documentation.
• Assemble print cylinders and gears.
• Perform and review line clearance.
• Remove waste from the press area.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
