SUMMARY: The Press Operator apprenticeship on the press line is a four-year program. The apprentice will learn procedures for set-up, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on all press line equipment, including safety protocols. Dependability, enthusiasm, cooperation, and efficiency are essential for continued participation. The apprentice must keep a work log and embody the company's core values and high-performance culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
Must be able to perform all duties satisfactorily. Requirements include:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED; 1-3 months related experience or training; or equivalent. Mechanical ability and aptitude are required. Additional courses may be necessary, with successful completion needed to remain in the program.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and understand instructions and communicate effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic math operations and calculations involving rate, ratio, and percentage.
REASONING ABILITY: Apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently stand, walk, sit, handle objects, reach, climb, balance, and hear; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to moving parts, fumes, airborne particles, electrical shock risk, and vibration; noise level is usually loud.
