Job summary

RRD is seeking a Press Operator 3 for the 12-hour night shift (front half) to operate gravure and offset presses, ensuring color accuracy and high-quality prints. The role offers a night differential of $2/hour and requires meticulous setup, maintenance, and adherence to safety standards.

The position is full-time with work on a front-half night schedule (7pm–7am) and emphasizes efficiency, quality control, and equipment upkeep in a fast-paced printing environment.

Qualifications

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain gravure or multi-color presses to print various color work with critical color values and registration.
• Review job specifications to determine press setup according to imposition.
• Perform make-ready tasks: hanging plates, installing cylinders, inspect plates and adjust tension and register.
• Make color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specifications.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain press; replace worn or broken parts.
• Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by manufacturer.
• Read job specs to determine most appropriate press usage and materials.
• Use a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.

• • This position is for a 12-hour front half night shift (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other Thursday)

• Requirements:

• • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a gravure press or amulti-color offset press to print single-color, two-color, and/or multi-color work which includes large solids, screen tints, line and halftones with critical color values and registration requirements ranging from hairline to critical
  • Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run (sheet wise or work and turn)
  • Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and checks for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
  • Makes necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required
  • Performs periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
  • • Requires comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of techniques, procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements to set-ip, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment to produce single-, two-, and/or multi-color work to critical tolerances
    • Skill in a wide-variety of complex manipulations and mechanical procedures to perform a variety of tasks to set-up, make major adjustments, and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment to produce single-, two-, and/or multi-color work
    • Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully
    • Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly

  • Thepay range for this role at the noted location is $28.75 to $42.11 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also includeovertime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
