Job Description
RRD is looking for an energetic, highly motivated team member to join our team of Press Operators at our Elk Grove Village facility.
- Operate Litho Press, In-line double web press, Harris M10, and a mini web 6-color web printing press to ensure quality production, maintain product quality, lead and direct press crew, maintain press, and perform other operational duties as directed by supervisors.
- Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a gravure press or multi-color offset press to print single-color, two-color, and/or multi-color work, including large solids, screen tints, line and halftones with critical color values and registration requirements ranging from hairline to critical.
- Review job specifications to determine press setup according to the run's imposition (sheet-wise or work and turn).
- Perform all make-ready tasks such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, and checking for correct image positioning, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and registration, etc.
- Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production to meet quality specifications.
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, perform minor repairs, and replace worn or broken parts as required.
- Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Act as a leader in promoting a safe, injury-free work environment.
- Manage all aspects of press operation and crew supervision.
- Ensure overall quality of printed products, including color reproduction, product specifications, imaging quality, and postal requirements.
- Determine when products are suitable for saving.
- Produce sample-quality products.
- Monitor and guide other crew members' progress.
- Accurately document time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds.
- Communicate effectively with other crews and departments such as scheduling, prepress, and maintenance.
- Coordinate make-ready processes, review job information, establish plans, and assign responsibilities.
- Maintain a Preventive Maintenance Program for the press and use the 'Request For Action' system for equipment issues.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.

$3.00 Shift Premium offered.
Plus $2000 sign-on bonus (distributed monthly based on performance review).
Hourly Rate Disclosure
The pay range is $30.30 to $43.30 per hour, with actual pay based on education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Press Operator 2 or 3, especially in Direct Mail or similar fields.
- Comprehensive knowledge of techniques, procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements for press setup, adjustment, operation, and maintenance.
- Strong experience with Litho Press, In-line double web press, Harris M10, and mini web 6-color web printing press.
- Skill in complex manipulations, mechanical procedures, and routine maintenance to produce high-quality multi-color work.
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications and determine appropriate press settings and materials.
- Proficiency with micrometers for mounting and aligning printing plates.
- Effective communication skills.
- Troubleshooting, mechanical aptitude, management skills, and ability to coordinate team activities.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 7-10 years of web press printing experience.
- Knowledge of inline finishing, die cutting, inserters, imagers, color, and registration.
- Experience in all relevant positions leading up to this role (preferred).
