Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons is hiring for a 2nd shift press operator in Oakdale, MN. You will set up, adjust, operate, and maintain flexographic presses, performing make-ready tasks and color corrections to meet quality specs.

The role requires attention to detail, familiarity with press toolsets and basic computer skills. Eligible candidates may receive a $2/hour shift differential, with opportunities for higher pay for direct experience.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Flexographic printing procedures, materials and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments.
• Ability to read and understand job specifications and determine press usage, settings and materials needed to run jobs.
• Ability to perform precise web path adjustments and routine maintenance of equipment.
• Capability to perform minor repairs and repairs to equipment.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Google).
• Experience with Mark Andy, Aquaflex, Comco, Webtron, Gallus or Nil Peter preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a number of press equipment.
• Perform make-ready tasks: mounting plates, installing print cylinders, checking image placement, prepping web paths, adjusting tension and register.
• Make color corrections and adjust anilox and press settings to meet quality specs before production.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press; perform minor repairs as required.
• Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

Job Description

• This position is for 2nd shift (2pm - 10pm) Monday - Friday
• This position is eligible for a $2/hr shift differential
• Candidates with direct experience will be eligible for a higher pay rate.

Requirements

• The position is responsible to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a number of press equipment
• Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the Flexographic press operated such as mounting plates or installing print cylinders, examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and checks for correct positioning of images, prepping web paths, adjusting tension and register etc.
• Make necessary color correction and anilox adjustment and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required
• Performs periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer

Qualifications

• Requires a thorough knowledge of Flexographic printing procedures, materials and specifications, equipment, and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments
• Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully
• Skill to make a variety of difficult precise web paths, and adjustments, and to perform routine operational maintenance of equipment
• Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment
• Knowledge of basic computer skills, excel, Word and Google, preferred
• Skill in use of Mark Andy, Aquaflex, Comco, Webtron, Gallus, Nil Peter preferred.

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $28.00 to $42.00 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
