Job summary

RR Donnelley in Iowa City, IA is seeking a Press Operator 2 for the 2nd shift (Mon–Fri, approx. 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM). Start pay is $22.37 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential.

You will set up, adjust, operate, and maintain multiple press machines to meet quality specifications. The role requires offset printing knowledge and the ability to read job specs to select appropriate presses and materials.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
• Ability to read and understand job specifications and determine appropriate press usage and materials.
• Ability to make precise settings of controls and perform routine operational maintenance.
• Knowledge of packing pressure and use of micrometer to mount/align printing plates.

Responsibilities

• Perform all make-ready tasks for the type of press operated (plates, cylinders, blankets, tension, register).
• Make color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specs.

Job Description

Press Operator 2- 2nd Shift (M-F, approx. 3:00pm to 11:00pm) starting at $22.37 per hour,plus a $2.00 per hour premium shift differential!

• The position is responsible to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a number of press equipment
• Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and checks for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
• Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required
• Performs periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Requires thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifiactions, equipment, and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments
• Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully
• Skill to make a variety of difficult precise settings of controls, settings, and adjustments, and to perform routine operational maintenance of equipment
• Skill inroutine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment
• Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain the proper printing pressure for the type of job being run
• Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly

Additional Information

Position Hours: 2nd shift (M-F, approx. 3:00pm to 11:00pm). Qualified candidates must be able to work afternoon and evening hours. There is a $2.00 per hour premium shift differential.

Thepay range for this role at the noted location is $22.37 to $26.37 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also includeovertime, shift differential, call-in, and stand‑by pay.
