Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is seeking a Press Operator to manage complete operation of the press, including setting guides, inspecting products, measuring dimensions, and aligning machine parts.

The role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and timely production; work schedule Monday-Thursday 5:00am–3:30pm with hourly rate starting $18.75 to $23.75, plus benefits and incentive opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use tape measure, Rockwell tester, digital calipers and micrometers.
  • Read and interpret material tags and production instructions.
  • Willingness to lift up to 80 pounds and work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate press equipment; set guides; inspect product and measure dimensions.
  • Thread coil through leveler and feeder; set dies and conveyors.
  • Adjust press parameters to meet program specs and production rates.
  • Monitor strip condition; communicate non-conformances to supervision.
  • Maintain clean work area; prepare skids and packaging per specs.
  • Support safety rules and quality requirements throughout shifts.

Job description

As a Press Operator at our facility, you would be responsible for complete operation of the press including setting equipment guides, inspecting product, measuring dimensions of completed products and aligning machine parts. Monday through Thursday from 5:00am to 3:30pm - Rate starts $$18.75 to $23.75

How you’ll contribute to our company:
  • Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
  • Check and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface requirement and ensure compliance with customer and production requirements (record if required)
  • Thread coil thru leveler/flattener, feed unit
  • Setup dies in the press with the part and scrap chutes/conveyors
  • Setup the press/levelers/flattener to the proper program or required parameters
  • Make minor adjustments to the press/dies/conveyors to produce product at a reasonable rate
  • Run coil at maximum rate that will produce complying product
  • Monitor strip condition to ensure compliance with customer requirements and production instructions
  • Setup skids on the parts conveyors to ensure no disruption of production
  • Remove scrap from press as necessary, empty hoppers
  • Clean machine and entire area
  • Convey customer specific packaging specifications
  • Communicate non-compliance or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead

  • Ability to use tape measure, Rockwell tester, digital calipers, digital/dial indicators, height gauge, computer, part specific gauges and micrometers
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to see details at close range
