Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons in Greensboro, NC is seeking a Sheeter Operator who will transform large rolls of paperboard into precise sheets for our packaging production. You will set up, calibrate, and run high-speed sheeting equipment, ensuring quality and efficiency across production lines.

The role requires reading job tickets for size, weight, and grain direction, performing make-ready changes, and conducting routine maintenance.

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial machinery, preferably sheeters.
• Ability to read a tape measure to 1/32" and perform basic sheet calculations.
• Stand for long shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, work in fast-paced manufacturing.
• Sharp eye for defects that affect downstream printing/die-cutting processes.
• Strict adherence to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and PPE.

Job Description

As a Sheeter Operator, you are the critical link between raw paper rolls and the high-precision printing process. You'll be responsible for transforming massive rolls of paperboard into perfectly sized, flat sheets, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency for our packaging production.

Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate high-speed sheeting equipment to convert paperboard rolls into precise sheets.
• Quality Control: Constantly monitor sheet dimensions, squareness, and surface quality to prevent defects (e.g., dust, slitting errors, or scuffing).
• Setup & Changeover: Review job tickets to determine specifications (size, weight, grain direction) and perform efficient make‑ready transitions between different jobs.
• Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance on knives, rollers, and belts to ensure optimal machine performance.
• Material Handling: Operate forklifts or roll‑clamping equipment to load heavy rolls onto the unwind stands.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical issues or paper‑run jams to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Technical Aptitude: Experience with industrial machinery (preferably sheeters like Marquip, Goodstrong, or Maxson) is a major plus.
• Mathematical Precision: Ability to read a tape measure to 1/32" and perform basic calculations for sheet counts and waste percentages.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast- paced manufacturing environment.
• Detail Oriented: A "sharp eye" for catching small defects that could cause issues later in the printing or die‑cutting stages.
• Safety First: Strict adherence to Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out (LOTO) procedures and PPE.

Salary Range

Thesalary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $ 20.00- $28.00 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs.Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call‑in, and/or stand‑by pay.
