Job summary

RRD Company is seeking an experienced offset press operator for the 1st shift in Timonium, MD. You will set up, adjust, and operate a single/multi-color offset press, perform make-ready tasks, inspect for print quality, and perform routine maintenance to ensure production efficiency and quality.

The role requires knowledge of offset printing procedures, the ability to read job specs, and hands-on experience with press adjustments to achieve optimal results.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment, and safety requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret job specifications to determine required press setup materials.
• Understanding of press capabilities to choose proper adjustments for efficient runs.
• Knowledge of packing pressure for proper printing pressure.
• Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.
• Experience with routine maintenance and minor repairs to printing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain single or multi-color offset press.
• Perform make-ready tasks such as hanging plates, installing cylinders, inspecting plates/cylinders for defects, and preparing blankets.
• Make color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specifications.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press; perform minor repairs as needed.
• Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain single or multi-color offset press
• Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and checks for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
• Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required
• Performs periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments
• Skill to read and understand job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully
• Must have sufficient knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate use of the press and corrective adjustments required to run efficiently
• Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain the proper printing pressure for the type of job being run
• Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly
• Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment
• Ability to make adjustments to feeder and feed board (e.g., ability to adjust suctions and blast, front and side guides and the timing of the head stops).

Thepay range for this role at the noted location is $19.01 - $27.18 / hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
