Job summary

Sheet Labels, Inc. is seeking a Press Operator for our onsite Austin, TX facility (or Queensbury, NY). You will operate press equipment to convert raw materials into finished printed products and help ensure quality and throughput.

The role is full-time and shift-based, with a 2nd shift available. You will work closely with helpers, supervisors, and managers to meet production goals and adhere to SOPs, reducing waste. Training and growth opportunities are offered.

  • Previous press experience (preferred, not required).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Load, position, and adjust unprinted materials on press equipment.
  • Set up and operate the press, including analyzing printed samples to confirm the job is correct.
  • Examine job orders for quantities, production times, stock specs, colors, and color sequences.
  • Monitor the printing process to maintain operating levels, detect malfunctions, and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Operate equipment at the required speed for proper ink coverage, alignment, and registration.
  • Partner with the press helper to load and unload rolls of raw material and finished product.
  • Work with the supervisor and manager to reduce product waste.
  • Complete jobs within scheduled timeframes to meet press production goals.
  • Comply with company and job‑specific SOPs (employee health & safety, SGP environmental procedures, routine housekeeping, and maintenance).

Team: Operations · Location: Onsite — Austin, TX or Queensbury, NY · Schedule: Full-time, shift-based (2nd shift available)

About the role

The Press Operator produces and converts raw materials into finished printed products. The press department is responsible for meeting customer requirements while adhering to SLI standards for quality, throughput, and job parameters. This is a hands‑on role on the production floor — you’ll be running real equipment, hitting real targets, and partnering closely with helpers, supervisors, and managers to keep the line moving.

What you’ll do
  • Load, position, and adjust unprinted materials on press equipment.
  • Set up and operate the press, including analyzing printed samples to confirm the job is correct.
  • Examine job orders for quantities, production times, stock specs, colors, and color sequences.

What we’re looking for
  • Previous press experience (preferred, not required) — 1+ year of manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of color charts and the ability to check printed samples.
  • Understanding of color laydown and overprint.
  • Ability to read and understand docket information.
  • Strong analytical ability and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management — completing jobs on schedule is core to the role.
  • Customer‑first mindset.

  • Adaptable to a changing environment with frequent delays or unexpected events.
  • Dependable, consistently on time, follows instructions, and takes feedback to improve.

Physical demands
  • Lifting, moving, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing for extended periods (~70–80% of shift).
  • Bending, twisting, and reaching (~60–70%).
  • Push and pull up to 100 lbs occasionally (~20–30%).
  • Extensive use of hands and fingers.
  • Use of step ladders as needed.
