Job summary

Array Technologies is seeking a Press Operator for first and second shifts in Albuquerque, NM. You will safely operate stamping presses, ensure quality parts, and follow 5S and TPM standards. Training occurs on first shift; second shift personnel transition after training.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints, use calipers and gauges, perform setup and changeovers, maintain documentation, and support continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to conduct basic maintenance or mechanical activities.
  • Ability to use measurement instruments: calipers, micrometers, gauging.

  • High school diploma or GED – minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Operate stamping presses and auxiliary equipment.
  • 5-S priority: keep station clean and orderly.
  • Initiate press start-up and adjustments after set-up.
  • Changeover and set-up of stamping dies and presses.
  • Adjust process parameters per Die Set-up sheet.
  • Set-up auxiliary equipment like coil feeders, straighteners.
  • Track and report downtime data accurately.
  • Complete production documentation: downtime, production, quality, 5-S, TPM.
  • Hourly update of Production Tracking Log.
  • Part inspection per instructions with gauges and fixtures.
  • Final visual audit of parts leaving press area for quality.
  • Follow containment procedures for contaminated product.
  • Production tagging/labeling to maintain inventory.
  • Verify Production schedule and update die-set information.
  • Escalate problems per escalation procedure.
  • Change coiled material when needed.
  • Report quality, production or safety problems to supervisor.
  • Perform and maintain 5-S in area of responsibility.
  • Complete preventive maintenance activities as required.
  • Write and follow up on work orders for repairs.
  • Suggest continuous improvement ideas.
  • Operate crane to load coils and forklift to change over dies.
  • Overtime available as required.

Job Description:

Press Operator

We are hiring two people for first shift (6:00AM to 2:00PM) and two additional people for second shift (2:00PM to 10:00PM).

Please note that training for all four positions will take place during the first shift. Once the training period is completed, the employees hired for the second shift will transition to their regular second-shift schedule.

Job Summary:

Safely and efficiently operate a stamping press and producing Quality stamped parts. The primary focus is Safety, Quality, and efficient production techniques by utilizing Array’s standards and procedures. Maintaining a continuous Improvement attitude with a willingness to adopt new ideas/skills.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate stamping Presses as required - including any auxiliary equipment.
  • 5-S as a PRIORITY - Keep station clean and orderly.
  • Initiate press start-up and adjustments as required after a set-up.
  • Changeover & Set-up of stamping dies and presses.
  • Adjust process parameters as dictated from the Die Set-up sheet.
  • Set-up and adjust auxiliary equipment as required: coil feeders, straighteners, etc.
  • Track and report Downtime data accurately using downtime clocks,
  • Complete required Production documentation: including Downtime, Production, Quality, 5-S, and TPM.
  • Hourly update of Production Tracking Log.
  • Part Inspection per Inspection Instructions. This includes visual inspections, using checking fixtures, gauges, precision measurement equipment & associated measurements per print & at specified intervals.
  • Final visual audit inspection of all parts leaving press area for quality.
  • Follow Containment procedures in the event of contaminated product.
  • Production tagging/labeling to maintain inventory accuracies.
  • Verify Production schedule.
  • Die Set-up sheets - report updated information to Leaders as needed.
  • Escalate problems according to the escalation procedure.
  • Change coiled material when needed.
  • Report on all Quality, Production or Safety problems to the production supervisor.
  • Perform & maintain 5-S Standards in area of responsibility.
  • Performing Preventive Maintenance activities are completed as required.
  • Write & follow up on Work Orders as needed for repairs in assigned area.
  • Suggest methods of improvement, (i.e. Continuous Improvement Plan & Performance Award Program).
  • Operate the crane to load coils on Coils Cars.
  • Operate forklift to change over dies.
  • Available for overtime as required.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer 2 years of operating & setting up progressive and/or transfer dies.
  • Demonstrated use of measurement instruments: calipers, micrometers, gauging, etc.
  • Proficient Math, Computer, & Communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to read & interpret blueprints.

Training Requirements:

  • In-Die Sensoring

  • QDC / SMED Training

  • 5’s

  • Basic GD&T / Blueprint interpretation

  • Available for on & off-site Training as deemed appropriate.

  • Crane Operation

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting requirements: Ability to lift up to 50lbs. to 37 inches high.
  • Vertical Lift requirements:Ability to lift up to 42 lbs. to 52 inches high.
  • Carry requirements: Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet.
  • Work environment is fast paced, and the noise and temperature levels can vary.

Safety:

  • If your role requires the wearing of steel-toed boots, the company will reimburse employees $125 per pair every year.
  • If your role requires the wearing of prescription safety glasses, the company will reimburse employees $200 every two years.
  • Array operates under strict guidelines and safety standards.Ear protection, hard hats, and standard non-prescription safety glasses are provided by the company.
  • Ensure the use of Safety Blocks.
  • Ensure all employees follow the safety policy.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized
  • Follow all safety rules.
  • Follow the lockout/tagout procedure.
  • Keep all safety curtain/guards in place during operation.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must pass a drug screen.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • We do require you to complete a Human Performance Evaluation (HPE) to make sure you are physically capable of performing the work. This must be completed prior to starting.
