Job summary

Plasticard Locktech International in North Las Vegas is seeking a hands‑on Press Mechanic to keep Komori offset presses and flexographic lines running at peak performance. You will diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support fast changeovers to minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate has direct Komori press experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of print quality.

Qualifications

  • 5–6 years minimum mechanical maintenance experience in printing/manufacturing/industrial setting.
  • Direct hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing Komori offset presses; flexographic experience preferred.
  • 2–4 years technical degree in mechanical technology or related field preferred; equivalent hands‑on press experience considered.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot drives, pneumatics, and web‑handling systems.
  • Working knowledge of print quality, registration, ink/water balance, and press operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret test equipment and schematics.
  • Must be flexible and able to work any shift; stand for long periods and lift 50 pounds.
  • Detail‑oriented with good organizational skills and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, maintain, and repair Komori offset presses, including feeders, delivery systems, gripper and transfer mechanisms, plate and blanket cylinders, inking/dampening systems, and impression settings.
  • Set up, maintain, and repair flexographic presses and related web handling, tension, and registration systems.
  • Diagnose and correct mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems affecting press performance and print quality.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all presses, including inspection and replacement of rollers, bearings, gears, belts, drives, and related components.
  • Support press changeovers, plate and blanket changes, and setup to maintain consistent registration, ink/water balance, tension, and impression while minimizing downtime.
  • Troubleshoot registration, print‑defect, and quality issues with a mechanical root cause, in coordination with press operators.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints and schematics.
  • Operate mills, lathes, welders, and other shop equipment to fabricate or repair press components as needed.
  • Utilize PMXpert software to generate work orders, order parts, and document PMs and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
  • Perform these and other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Job Summary

The Press Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the facility's printing presses — primarily Komori offset presses and flexographic lines — and related converting/finishing equipment. This is a hands‑on "working" position focused on keeping presses running at full capacity: diagnosing and correcting mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting fast, accurate changeovers to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate has direct Komori press experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a working knowledge of print quality, and partners closely with press operators and maintenance staff to keep production on schedule.

  • Ability to operate mills, lathes, welders, and other equipment preferred.
  • Good computer, math, and reading skills; must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Must be flexible and able to work any shift, sometimes at short notice.
  • Detail‑oriented, good organizational skills, and able to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jacks, scissor, and boom lifts.
