Job summary

Graphic Packaging International is seeking a 2nd Pressman in the United States to support high-speed printing operations. You will assist the 1st Pressman, perform color and register adjustments, and ensure the press runs meet quality specifications.

This union role requires manufacturing experience and reliable attendance, with benefits after a 60-day probationary period and opportunities for growth within a large packaging manufacturer.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience is required.
• 2-5 years relevant experience preferred.
• Excellent attendance and the ability to work independently and perform duties satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Assist 1st Pressman by making color or register corrections and adjustments to meet specifications.
• Able to run the press during the absence of the 1st Pressman and fulfill duties.
• Read and follow job specifications to determine press setup materials needed to run the job successfully.
• Adjust press machine parts (feeder, delivery, suction grips, guides, feed wheels) using hand tools.
• Assist in removing and replacing worn rollers and adjusting pressure between rollers.
• Wash blankets and clean ink distributing rollers and fountains using ink solvent and cleaning mechanisms.
• Assist in press maintenance and support SQF standards and company values.
• Perform other duties as assigned and help keep the plant clean and orderly.

Job Details

Position: 2nd Pressman

Shift/Hours: Schedules are up to 12-hour shifts Mondays – Fridays and 8-hour shifts on Saturdays. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

Position Type: Union role; Will join union after 60 day probationary period.

Benefits: Offered after 60 days of employment.

Time Off: One week after 60-day probationary period, pro-rated based on hire date.

Job Functions

• Assist 1st Pressman by making necessary color or register corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality of specifications of the work.
• Ability to run press during absence of 1st Pressman and fulfill all the duties of a 1st Pressman in this capacity.
• Ability to read and follow job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully.
• Adjusts press machine parts, such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, jogging devices, tapes, and cams, using hand tools.
• Assist in removing and replacing worn rollers and adjusting pressure between rollers of press, using hand tools.
• Wash blankets and cleans ink and ink distributing rollers and ink fountains, using ink solvent and cleaning mechanism on press.
• Assists in the maintenance of the press.
• Assist temporary employees with understanding task assignments while Reinforcing SQF standards and Graphic Packaging International’s core values.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Keep building in clean and orderly condition, to complete the plant wide painting schedule and to assist in the SQF Audits while maintaining SQF standards.

Background / Experience

• Manufacturing experience required.
• 2-5 years relevant experience required.
