Board President (Volunteer, Part-Time)

About Us

Urban Compassion Project’s mission is to bring health, welfare, and empowerment to those often overlooked, while tackling the environmental and social challenges facing the Bay Area. Since 2021, we’ve cleared over 2,500 tons of trash, mobilized 4,000+ volunteers, and supported 9,800+ people and animals through outreach and distribution programs. We shine a light on urgent issues facing our homeless neighbors while building bridges between housed and homeless communities.

The Role

We’re seeking a volunteer Board President to lead our organization into its next chapter of impact. This is a remote, part-time role (approx. 4-8 hours a week, two-year renewable term).

The Board President will:

  • Lead quarterly board meetings and manage overall board operations
  • Partner with organizational leaders and board members to set strategic direction
  • Represent UCP in public forums, media, and advocacy efforts
  • Build partnerships, fundraising opportunities, and community outreach initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and strategic planning skills
  • Fundraising, donor relations, and community outreach experience
  • Strong background in public relations and advocacy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous nonprofit board experience strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of nonprofit finances, governance, and structure
  • Long-term Bay Area residency and deep familiarity working with underserved communities and people of color
  • Passion for social justice, equity, and community empowerment
