Job summary

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, OH seeks a President & COO to lead transformation, align mission with strategy, and position the center as a nationally significant institution.

You will oversee operations, fundraising, partnerships, and digital strategy, report to CMC President & CEO, work with the Board, and travel regionally and nationally to advance impact and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 15 years of related experience, including at least 7 years in senior leadership roles.
• Strong record of community engagement, partnership building, and advancing contributed and/or earned revenue strategies.
• Knowledge of museum management and visitor-centered operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead organizational transformation and strategic direction for national relevance and growth.
• Provide executive leadership across programs, facilities, education, and operations.
• Oversee fundraising and donor engagement in partnership with board.
• Build and sustain partnerships with community, funders, and stakeholders.
• Lead staff development and cross-department collaboration.
