Job summary

Samaritas is seeking a Preservation Advocate / Case Manager for the MiFamily Together (MFT) program. This home-based role focuses on family preservation and reunification, delivering hands-on support to families in their homes over a six-month period.

The position emphasizes crisis intervention, goal setting, and resource connection. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, with experience working with children and families.

Qualifications

• A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any human service field or education is required.
• OR two years’ experience working with children and/or families and an associate degree or the equivalent with an anticipated graduation within 6 months.
• Experience with children and families in field-based or community settings is preferred.
• Knowledge of strength-based, family-centered, and solution-focused approaches.
• Ability to build trust, engage families, and navigate complex situations.

Responsibilities

• In-Home Family Support: Provide weekly in-home services to families over a 6-month period.
• Crisis intervention, education, and support to families at risk of child removal or reunification.
• Utilize Protective Factors and the 2Gen approach to strengthen family systems.
• Assessment & Treatment Planning: Conduct comprehensive family assessments and collaboratively develop goals with families, and connect to resources.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate case records, track progress, complete reports, and participate in ongoing training.

Using a strengths-based, 2Gen approach, you’ll empower both caregivers and children to build skills, access resources, and create sustainable change.

What You’ll Do

As a Perservation Advocate you will deliver hands-on, individualized support to families:

In-Home Family Support

• Provide weekly, in-home services to families over a 6-month period
• Deliver crisis intervention, education, and support to families at risk of child removal or reunification
• Utilize Protective Factors and the 2Gen approach to strengthen family systems

Assessment & Treatment Planning

• Conduct comprehensive family assessments
• Collaboratively develop and implement goals with families
• Support skill-building and connect families to resources
• Work closely with referral sources, courts, schools, and community providers
• Advocate for families and help coordinate needed services
• Actively participate in team meetings and case reviews

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate, timely case records and documentation
• Track progress, complete reports, and meet program requirements
• Participate in ongoing training and apply best practices

What You Bring

A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any human service field or education required

OR

Two years’ experience working with children and/or families and an associate degree or the equivalent in human services or education and be actively working towards a bachelor’s degree in human services or education with an anticipated graduation within 6 months of hire date.

• Experience working with children and families in a field-based or community setting preferred
• Knowledge of strength-based, family-centered, and solution-focused approaches preferred
• Ability to build trust, engage families, and navigate complex situations

Additional Requirements
