Job summary

Samaritas is seeking a Preservation Advocate (MFT) in the Macomb County area to support families through home-based services under MiFamily Together. You will provide in-home visits, crisis intervention, and resources using a 2Gen approach to strengthen families and prevent maltreatment.

This full-time role requires collaboration with courts, schools, and community providers, and involves flexible hours including evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any human service field or education required.
• Two years’ experience working with children and/or families and an associate degree or the equivalent in human services or education with an anticipated graduation within 6 months of hire date.
• Experience working with children and families in a field-based or community setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• In-Home Family Support: Provide weekly, in-home services to families over a 6-month period.
• Assessment & Treatment Planning: Conduct comprehensive family assessments and collaboratively develop goals with families; support skill-building and connect families to resources.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate case records, track progress, complete reports, and participate in ongoing training.

What You’ll Do

As a MFT Case Manager / Advocate, you’ll deliver hands-on, individualized support to families:

In-Home Family Support

• Provide weekly, in-home services to families over a 6-month period
• Deliver crisis intervention, education, and support to families at risk of child removal or reunification
• Utilize Protective Factors and the 2Gen approach to strengthen family systems

Assessment & Treatment Planning

• Conduct comprehensive family assessments
• Collaboratively develop and implement goals with families
• Support skill-building and connect families to resources
• Work closely with referral sources, courts, schools, and community providers
• Advocate for families and help coordinate needed services
• Actively participate in team meetings and case reviews

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate, timely case records and documentation
• Track progress, complete reports, and meet program requirements
• Participate in ongoing training and apply best practices

What You Bring

A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any human service field or education required

OR

Two years’ experience working with children and/or families and an associate degree or the equivalent in human services or education and be actively working towards a bachelor’s degree in human services or education with an anticipated graduation within 6 months of hire date.

Experience working with children and families in a field-based or community setting preferred

• Knowledge of strength-based, family-centered, and solution-focused approaches preferred
• Ability to build trust, engage families, and navigate complex situations
