Job summary

Maryland Nonprofits is seeking a data-driven Program Manager to support the Baltimore Green Space (BGS) Preservation and CMOS initiatives. You will work with the Preservation Manager to implement programming, provide technical and outreach support to site leaders, co-facilitate workshops, and help grow community engagement and preservation applications.

In this role you will manage data collection, ensure data governance, and optimize CMOS databases while coordinating with staff to align

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management, community outreach, event planning and/or community organizing or related fields
  • Data management experience designing and maintaining database systems
  • Thorough understanding of data governance standards and monitoring data quality
  • Strong command of SQL, Python or R; database design and cloud platforms is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine reporting, data management and project planning for BGS preserved sites and CMOS in the wider BGS network
  • Coordinate key aspects of the preservation process and land trust compliance
  • Assist with the Annual Site Review process for BGS preserved sites, including forest sites
  • Assist with planning and facilitating 12-18 environmental education events per year with support from other staff
  • Supports coordination with partner non-profit organizations to develop effective support programming for sites
  • Maintains the Baltimore Green Space CMOS database and assists with its expansion and verification process via coordination with community leaders, site checks and ongoing data entry
  • Coordinates with Preservation Manager around reporting requirements and produces preliminary reporting materials for project and grant management
  • Daily updates to organizational database regarding Technical Assistance activities, Site Support activities, and contact information for all program contacts

Serves an integral role in supporting our mission by providing technical, educational, and outreach support to site leaders, as well as by co-facilitating BGS workshops and events to increase outreach. Assists with providing ongoing support to preserved sites, coordinating technical assistance to unaffiliated sites, building forest and garden stewardship networks, and leading occasional service days. Works with the staff in meeting organizational goals to increase preservation applications from communities of color; increase neighborhood participation in community forest activities; and maintaining a network and accompanying database of community-managed open spaces (CMOS).

Job Summary

Assists with providing ongoing support to preserved sites, coordinating technical assistance to unaffiliated sites, building forest and garden stewardship networks, and leading occasional service days. Works with the staff in meeting organizational goals to increase preservation applications from communities of color; increase neighborhood participation in community forest activities; and maintaining a network and accompanying database of community-managed open spaces (CMOS). In addition, the ideal candidate will work collaboratively across the organization to manage data collection and accessibility related to CMOS. In this role, you will optimize database systems, enforce robust data governance, and ensure high data quality so the team can confidently utilize and rely on organizational information. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical data systems and organizational strategy to maximize the overall value of our information assets.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Program Management

  • Assists Preservation Manager with routine reporting, data management and project planning as it relates to ongoing technical and site support to BGS preserved sites and CMOS in the wider BGS network

Data Management Responsibilities
  • Maintains the Baltimore Green Space CMOS database and assists with its expansion and verification process via coordination with community leaders, site checks and ongoing data entry
  • Coordinates with Preservation Manager around reporting requirements and produces preliminary reporting materials for project and grant management
  • Daily updates to organizational database regarding Technical Assistance activities, Site Support activities, and contact information for all program contacts

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management, community outreach, event planning and/or community organizing or related fields
  • Data management experience designing and maintaining database systems
  • Thorough understanding of data governance standards and monitoring data quality
  • Strong command of SQL, Python or R, database design and cloud platforms is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Slack and CRM tools, such as Salesforce
  • Working knowledge of Baltimore City history, particularly within the context of racial inequity and social justice is helpful
  • Must have transportation and be willing to work some nights and weekends
  • Experience with community gardening, urban forest ecology, environmental science, community outreach, and/or community organizing is a plus

Salary & Benefits

Salary and benefits are competitive for a non-profit organization. Salary is commensurate with education and experience, range between 45,000-50,000.
