JOB SUMMARY
The Prescription Refill Nurse provides medication support related to prescriptions, including refill requests, automatic refills, and prior authorization requests, as ordered or directed by the provider and/or department protocol. This role involves coordinating services through face-to-face or phone communication. The nurse must make decisions consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s (MCHS) mission, policies, department protocols, and initiatives, while strictly observing patient confidentiality.
Minimum: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma. Preferred: Associate degree in nursing. Educational qualifications must be from an institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum: Customer service experience, proficiency in verbal, non-verbal, and written communication, knowledge of colloquial and medical terminology, and demonstrated computer and telephone skills. Preferred: Outpatient clinic experience in primary care or related field; experience as an LPN in a related setting.
Minimum: LPN license issued by the State of Wisconsin; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire. Preferred: BLS certification at the time of hire. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine relevance to the position.
