Job summary

Harris Health in Houston seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support prescription authorizations for insured patients. You will interact with providers, pharmacy, nursing and internal teams to resolve authorization questions.

You will process submissions, follow payor rules, and ensure benefits are updated in Epic for proper billing and reimbursement. Spanish language skills are preferred for patient interactions.

Qualifications

• School Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Degrees: Associate's Degree or 2 years of college preferred
• Licenses and Certification: Pharmacy Technician; Texas State Board of Pharmacy
• Work Experience: 3 years with Prescription/Pharmacy authorization;Epic a plus; strong customer service

Job Summary

Responsible for prescription authorization to support prescribing of medications for insured patients. Provides customer service while collaborating with providers, pharmacy, nursing and internal team members for any questions or issues related to the prescription authorization. Responsible for submitting, processing and ensuring authorization is resolved by following payor rules and guidelines. Updates all benefits in Epic to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement for services when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

School Education: High School Diploma or GED

Degrees: Associate's Degree or 2 years of college preferred

Licenses and Certification: Pharmacy Technician; Texas State Board of Pharmacy

Work Experience: Three (3) years work experience with Prescription/Pharmacy authorization (Epic software a plus) with progressive customer service experience

Language Skills: Spanish preferred

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact), Writing/Correspondence, Writing/Reports

Proficiencies: MS Excel, MS Word, Personal Computer
