Job summary

University of North Florida’s UNF Preschool-OPS seeks a part-time assistant teacher to support young children in a Preschool environment aligned with NAEYC standards. You will collaborate with Lead and Assistant teachers to implement learning experiences and assist in assessing and documenting student progress.

Responsibilities include maintaining classroom order, applying developmentally appropriate practices, and contributing to a professional learning community.

Qualifications

• 46 hours of DCF rules and regulation experience with young children.
• DCF 45 hours must be attained prior to start of position.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR within 1 month of employment.
• Must demonstrate caring/patient attitude and strong customer service in line with university mission.

Responsibilities

• Support young children in adherence to preschool philosophy and mission.
• Collaborate with Lead and Assistant teachers to implement classroom learning experiences.
• Assist in teaching to meet developmental standards across social-emotional, physical, language, social studies, and arts domains.
• Maintain classroom order and behavior management.
• Apply NAEYC developmentally appropriate practices daily.
• Assist in child assessments using photography, anecdotes, words, and artifacts.
• Help manage portfolios to document learning.
• Engage in teacher inquiry and share learning within PLCs and conferences.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Preschool director and assistant director.
