Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area (BGCCA) is seeking an UPK Teaching Assistant - Floating to support a Pre-K classroom in the City School District collaboration. You will assist the lead teacher with lesson delivery, classroom management, and documentation, fostering a nurturing environment for 3-4 year olds.

Responsibilities include planning activities, delivering instruction, monitoring progress, and supporting health, safety, and student development in a 10-month term.

Qualifications

• Preferred Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Experience with young children in an educational setting is desirable.
• Experience in an Early Childhood setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan weekly lesson plans based on approved curriculum and student needs.
• Collaborate with Lead Teacher to prepare materials and resources.
• Develop and implement hands-on activities aligned with units of study.
• Utilize Learning Without Tears and 2nd‑Step programs for development.
• Participate in Professional Development opportunities.
• Deliver age-appropriate instruction in early literacy, numeracy, science, and social studies.
• Support small group activities and individualized attention.
• Complete progress reports, attendance, monitoring forms, summaries and updates.
• Maintain classroom management and a positive learning environment.
• Organize and maintain an orderly, engaging classroom.
• Observe and document student progress and milestones.
• Identify students needing additional support or intervention.
• Assist with IEPs or behavior plans as directed by Lead Teacher.
• Encourage independence and social interactions among students.
