Reports To: School Principal

Schedule : Full Time - 5 days weekly

SUMMARY

The Instructional Support Staff (ISS) member is a school-based instructional support professional who provides flexible classroom, instructional, and student support across multiple grade levels and programs. ISS staff help ensure continuity of instruction, maintain safe learning environments, and provide coverage for staff absences while supporting the school's daily operational needs.

ISS staff are expected to be adaptable and may be assigned to general education classrooms, specialized programs, inclusion settings, or other instructional environments based on student and school needs.

For the high school, the ISS will be supervising students in a large group setting and not a traditional classroom setting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Massachusetts educator license or eligibility preferred
  • Previous experience working in schools or educational settings preferred
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities and/or behavioral needs preferred
  • Training in de-escalation, trauma-informed practices, or behavior support preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to operate computer, printer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, and all other standard office equipment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large or small school building
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
