Are you passionate about providing high-quality care and education for children ages 0-5? The YMCA provides early childhood education in a setting that is inclusive for children of all abilities. Our Teachers facilitate developmentally appropriate classroom and outdoor activities and environments. Our Teachers use the Creative Curriculum and partner with families to ensure each child thrives and achieves positive learning outcomes.

Teachers with 5+ years will earn up to $31.97/hour. In addition to salary, the Y offers the following benefits for Full-Time employees:

What you'll do:

  • Cultivate an inviting and stimulating learning environment for children of all abilities
  • Develop and implement creative curriculum and classroom activities, guided by state and program standards, and individualized to meet the needs of all children
  • Create and maintain stimulating, organized, and inviting learning environments in the classroom and outdoor play areas that are reflective of the cultural diversity in the classroom and the surrounding community
  • Develop ongoing communication and relationships with families that foster effective partnerships and promote each child’s optimum growth and development through conversations, daily notes, home visits, and parent/teacher conferences
  • Carefully observe, track, and assess the progress of each child in your care
  • Plan and facilitate activities using both verbal and non-verbal learning strategies
  • Conduct daily health checks for each child to ensure growth and positive learning outcomes

What you'll need:

  • High School Diploma. AA degree preferred
  • Current Child Development permit at the Associate Teacher level or above
  • Successful completion of 12 or more semester units in Early Childhood Education, for Early Head Start, completion of 6 units of infant/toddler development with grade C or above
  • Exceptional English language communication skills. Bilingual / Multi-lingual preferred
  • Experience as Early Childhood Classroom Teacher and/or in Head Start and Early Head Start programs
  • Experience working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Current certificates for Pediatric First Aid and CPR, including a total of 15 hours of preventative health and safety training or completion of this training within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to work in high-stress situations with an inclusive and emotionally mature mindset
