Job description

We offer three program options in Ashland and Talent for 3, 4, and 5 year old kids: Half Day from 7:30a-12p, and Full Day from 7:30a-6p. Children must be 3 years of age by the date of enrollment.

Preschool is open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday - Friday. The Ashland Family YMCA Preschool follows the school year and we are currently working on year-round options.

Hourly rate is $21.00-$24.00, depending on education, experience and certifications. (5% bilingual pay differential)

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

Providing direct supervision of assigned group of children in a preschool classroom setting. Create positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum one-year experience working with preschool age children in a licensed program, or an educational background in Early Childhood Education.
  • Must successfully pass a security clearance and be enrolled in the Office of Child Care’s Central Background Registry.
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, Food Handlers Card, obtained within 30 days of hire or before the program starts, whichever comes first.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations is preferred; the ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from all backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, fun, energetic, hardworking, sensitive, mature, able to supervise and relate well to children, parents and staff.
  • Ability and willingness to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals.
