Job summary

The YMCA of South Hampton Roads is hiring a Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 1 through 5. You will support cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development through play-based learning and developmentally appropriate practices.

Work with families and other teachers to foster school readiness, promote a love of learning, and uphold the YMCA's mission and core values.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
• Meet the VA DOE Division of Child Care Health and Safety Lead Teacher qualifications.
• CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum promoting development in young children.
• Establish a safe, organized, welcoming classroom and manage routines.
• Assess and document children's progress and communicate with families.
