Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in Vista Del Monte, CA, is seeking a Preschool Teacher to assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs in line with California licensing guidelines. You will supervise up to 12 children and may oversee an assistant, delivering safe, engaging activities.

The role emphasizes positive behavior guidance, HEPA compliance, welcoming environments, collaboration with staff, and ongoing trainings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 12 units in Child Development or related field.
• 6 months of experience in a childcare setting.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings within two weeks of hire.
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and implement childcare programs per California licensing guidelines.
• Supervise up to 12 children independently; may supervise an Assistant/Associate Teacher with up to 15–18 children.
• Provide quality care and supervision to children; maintain a safe environment.
• Promote healthy eating and physical activity (HEPA) standards.
• Set up and clean program areas; ensure supplies and equipment are in good order.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and engage with children and families.
• Participate in trainings and foster an inclusive, welcoming environment.
• Collaborate with staff and report concerns; support annual campaigns and member education.
