Walnut Avenue Family & Women’s Center is hiring an on-site Teacher for the Early Education program in Santa Cruz. The role focuses on providing high-quality early care and education to children, planning developmentally appropriate activities and coordinating with a supportive team to ensure safety and positive growth.

The position emphasizes licensing compliance, family communication, and anti-bias practices, with opportunities to collaborate with a Behavior Health Specialist and program staff

Qualifications

• Minimum Title 5/Title 22 education requirements and a valid teacher credential.
• Bilingual English/Spanish helpful but not required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required; health screening and TB testing as per policy.

Responsabilités

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum with team members.
• Monitor safety of children indoors/outdoors and ensure licensed compliance.
• Engage with children using EEC philosophy and positive language.
• Care for basic child needs: eating, sleeping, diapering, hygiene.
• Support emotional development and social skills through guided activities.
• Lead daily circle times to promote literacy and cognitive growth.
• Create stimulating classroom environment supporting whole-child development.
• Maintain confidentiality about children and families; follow agency policy.
• Collaborate with supervisor and Behavior Health Specialist as needed.
• Communicate with families about their child’s day and program events.
