  • Provides constant care for the needs of the children in a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
  • Develops and implements age-appropriate lesson plans and activities; utilizes teacher-made materials.
  • Monitors and supervises children during indoor and outdoor activities.

Salary Range: $16.91 - $21.14 Hourly

Schedule/Hours: M – F 9:00 pm – 5:30 pm - 40 hours a week

This position is responsible for:

Provides pre-school services for children including personal care, hygiene, learning and development activities and specialized programs; plans, develops, and teaches pre-school classes; prepares and maintains records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of childcare property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Develops and implements lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.
  • Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.
  • Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift, hold, and carry children on a regular basis (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
  • Work is performed in a normal pre-school environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and
  • two years experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school, or
  • any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid state driver's license
  • C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
  • Health Card Certification
  • DCF Staff Credential
  • 45 Hour DCF training (Required within first year of employment)
