Job summary

The YMCA Early Learning Center - St. Paul’s is hiring a full-time Preschool Teacher to lead the 1 and 2 year old classrooms. You will implement a developmental curriculum, foster a safe, positive learning environment, and communicate with families.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm, year-round. Compensation ranges from $14.25 to $18 per hour based on experience, with a YMCA membership included.

Qualifications

• Must meet state education and experience requirements.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire.
• New Employee Orientation within first week of hire.
• High school diploma; 1 year college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans within guidelines.
• Ensure children's safety at all times.
• Make ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians and engage them as volunteers.
• Maintain program records such as sign-in/sign-out rosters.
• Monitor and engage children in games and activities.
• Attend family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.

As a Preschool Teacher, you will provide direction for the program and classroom, implementing a curriculum that fosters a positive environment for kids to have fun while learning and growing.

We are currently hiring for a full-time teacher who can work Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:30pm for our 1 and 2 year old classroom.

Compensation for this position is a range of $14.25-$18, based on experience. Position is year round.

A Day as a Preschool Teacher:

• Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines

• Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians & engage them as volunteers
• Maintain required program records such as sign-in/sign-out rosters

Qualifications:

• Must meet educational and experience qualifications established by state law, including 18 hours of online training and in-service training
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required within first 30 days of hire.
• New Employee Orientation required within first week of hire.
• High school degree required; one year of college preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Previous experience working with children from diverse background in a developmental setting preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities in both indoor and outdoor settings
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs
