Job summary

YMCA Downtown is seeking a Preschool Teacher to lead the classroom and implement a curriculum that fosters a fun, safe environment where children learn and grow.

Shifts are Monday–Friday from 7:30am to 1:00pm, year-round. Compensation ranges from $14.25 to $18 per hour based on experience, with a Free YMCA membership as a perk.

Qualifications

• Must meet state education and training requirements including 18 hours of online training and in-service training.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required within first 30 days of hire.
• New Employee Orientation required within first week of hire.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Previous experience working with children from diverse backgrounds preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines.
• Ensure the safety of the children.
• Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians & engage them as volunteers.
• Maintain required program records, such as sign-in/sign-out rosters.
• Monitor and engage in games and activities with children.
• Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

As a Preschool Teacher, you will provide direction for the program and classroom, implementing a curriculum that fosters a positive environment for kids to have fun while learning and growing.

Physical Demands

• Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities in both indoor and outdoor settings
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs
