Job Summary:

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing an early childhood education program for 3-5 year old children that meets the early childhood education standards of the State of Wyoming. The teacher addresses all areas of development, meets the individual needs of each child, and, in partnership with parents, observes and assesses children’s development, plans curriculum based on child development knowledge, designs the learning environment, and supervises developmentally appropriate activities.

Education and Certifications:
  • Minimum education is a bachelor’s degree.
  • Current Teacher Licensure through Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) or able to obtain prior to start date.
  • Prior experience as a teacher or teacher’s assistant in early childhood, elementary education, or related fields is preferred.
  • Current CPR certification through AHA is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of classroom procedures and management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with ECSE teachers, therapists, parents, and students positively and constructively.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
  • Patient, calm personality with a loving approach to children.
  • Understanding of child development.
  • Ability to plan age-appropriate routines for children.
Essential Functions:
  • Use a curriculum framework to meet learning expectations that prepare children for school success.
  • Establish a daily routine including small and large group activities, creative expression, and health and nutrition development.
  • Model appropriate and respectful behavior.
  • Communicate progress and concerns professionally with parents and staff.
  • Build positive relationships with students and parents.
  • Complete screenings, assessments, BDI’s, and IFSP’s within designated timeframes.
  • Maintain required paperwork for student files, attendance, and incidents.
  • Coordinate with the ECSE Teacher, Center Coordinator, Case Manager, and Director on significant program events.
  • Report accidents, illnesses, and behavioral issues appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean and healthy classroom environment.

Physical Requirements:

The role involves occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity; approximately 30% sitting, 35% walking, 35% standing. Work is performed under temperature extremes in a generally hazard-free environment.
