Preschool Teacher Assistant 25/26 School Year

Position Overview

The Preschool Teacher Assistant will support the lead teacher in planning and executing daily activities for students. Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting during meals and snacks, providing one-on-one attention, organizing the classroom, and supporting teaching of basic concepts such as numbers, colors, and shapes. The assistant also offers feedback on students' academic and social development.

Essential Functions

• Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum.
• Support lesson plan delivery and classroom activities.
• Help students individually or in small groups with learning tasks.
• Adapt classroom activities and materials to support learning goals.
• Monitor students in various settings to ensure safety and positive behavior.
• Assist with lunchtime, toileting, and hygiene activities.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization.
• Perform clerical tasks to prepare instructional materials.
• Create a nurturing environment to promote comfort and security.
• Report observations and incidents related to students.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Food Handler’s Card/Certification
• Ability to obtain IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• 6+ months experience in early childhood setting
