The Co-op School, founded in 2003, is a non-profit preschool serving the Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, and Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhoods. It offers a comprehensive educational environment with a focus on curiosity and creativity, employing a constructivist approach.

Job Summary

Assistant Teachers support the Lead Teacher in preparing materials, assisting students with work and social interactions, and facilitating lessons. They participate in curriculum planning, parent communication, and staff meetings. Opportunities include leading lessons during teacher absences and contributing to student assessments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing age-appropriate curriculum focusing on social-emotional learning, literacy, math, art, music, theatre, and movement
  • Preparing and hosting activities with the Lead Teacher
  • Participating in planning, documentation, and classroom display updates
  • Attending staff meetings, parent conferences, and professional development
  • Collaborating on student observations and progress reports

Qualifications

  • Passion for working with children
  • 2-3 years of experience in a school setting preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood preferred
  • Enthusiasm, positive attitude, and flexibility

Salary Range: $36,000 - $47,945, based on experience and education. Full-time position, start ASAP. Reports to the Preschool Division Head.
