Job summary

Mannahouse Christian Academy is seeking a part-time Preschool Teacher Assistant to support the lead teacher in daily routines and faith-based activities at the Vancouver Campus. You will help sustain a safe, nurturing environment and contribute to a Christ-centered learning atmosphere.

Ideal candidates have experience with children in educational or ministry settings, strong classroom management, and a heart for serving families.

Qualifications

• Meet Washington DELC standards for employment in a licensed early childhood center.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Current Washington Food Handler’s Card (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Completion of the required state trainings (or willingness to complete prior to hire).
• Experience working with children in an educational or ministry setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in daily classroom routines, lessons, and faith-based activities.
• Support children’s spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth through positive interactions.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment compliant with Washington licensing.
• Supervise children at all times during classroom, outdoor, and transition periods.
• Assist with diapering, toileting, and health/safety procedures as required.
• Help prepare and serve snacks/meals following food-handling and allergy protocols.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff through encouragement and clear communication.
• Support classroom management by reinforcing teacher expectations and encouraging respectful behavior.
• Reflect the school’s mission and values in a nurturing, faith-filled learning atmosphere.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist the lead teacher in daily classroom routines, lessons, and faith-based learning activities.
• Support children’s spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth through positive interactions and modeling Christ-like behavior.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment in compliance with all Washington licensing and health regulations.
• Supervise children at all times, ensuring safety during classroom, outdoor, and transition periods.
• Assist with diapering, toileting, hand washing, and other health/safety procedures as required.
• Help prepare and serve snacks/meals following food-handling and allergy protocols.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff through encouragement and clear communication.
• Support classroom management by reinforcing teacher expectations and encouraging kind, respectful behavior.
• Reflect the mission and values of Mannahouse Christian Academy, contributing to a nurturing and faith-filled learning atmosphere.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience working with children in an educational or ministry setting. Previous experience working in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
• Ability to assist teacher and students, with high level of classroom management skills

Required Skills:

• Child Guidance & Supervision: Ability to monitor children closely, anticipate unsafe situations, and use positive guidance techniques that promote kindness, respect, and responsibility.
• Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe sleep, sanitation, diapering/toileting, and handwashing procedures, as well as emergency preparedness and classroom safety.
• Communication: Strong verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff in a warm, professional, and faith-based manner.
• Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with teachers and administrators, supporting the classroom vision and maintaining consistency in routines and expectations.
• Organization & Reliability: Ability to manage time, follow daily schedules, and complete assigned tasks independently and efficiently.
• Emotional Maturity: Demonstrates patience, empathy, and calmness when guiding children or handling challenging behaviors.
• Cultural & Developmental Sensitivity: Recognizes and respects the developmental stages and diverse backgrounds of all children and families.
