Job summary

The Thompson Child Development Center in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Preschool Teacher Assistant to provide high-quality daily care for children enrolled at the center. You will follow Thompson policies, implement lesson plans, document progress, and work under the supervision of a lead teacher and director.

You will help maintain a clean, safe, and engaging classroom, build supportive relationships with families and staff, and participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen early

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Six college credits of coursework in Early Childhood Education.
Two years of early childhood teaching experience; Associate’s degree preferred.
Knowledge of DCDEE and Mecklenburg County Health Department standards.
Successful drug screening and an extensive background check.

Responsibilities

Maintain the total quality of the classroom environment, focusing on cleanliness, order, state of repair, and replenishment of supplies.
Provide direct service and supervision to children, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Establish appropriate and helpful relationships with staff, mentors, families, and support service providers.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops, and other professional activities.
Understand the cultural diversity of children and team members to better serve families.
Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and moving items as required.

What will you do as a Preschool Teacher Assistant?

A Preschool Teacher Assistant, at Thompson Child Development Center (TCDC), is responsible for providing high-quality daily care to children enrolled at the child development center, following the expectations and policies of Thompson, and adhering to the guidelines of Division of Child Development and Early Education. Care includes implementing daily lesson plans and documenting the child's progress, following center and classroom routines and working with a lead teacher, under the supervision of the director.

Starting Pay Range: $14-16.00 hourly

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age
have at least six SCH of post-high school coursework in Early Childhood Education
2 years of early childhood teaching experienceAssociate’s degree in early childhood education preferred.
Must have knowledge of regulations governed by DCDEE and Mecklenburg County Health Department standards
