Position Summary

The Teacher plans, monitors, and coordinates activities to support children’s emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development. The role encourages active learning through creative curriculum, loving interactions, and exploration in a safe, predictable environment.

Essential Functions
  • Develops creative curriculum lessons supporting developmental needs across all areas for indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, inviting classroom environment, including various educational centers.
  • Supports diversity, cultural awareness, and confidentiality with an anti-bias curriculum.
  • Approaches behavioral and speech challenges fairly, firmly, and compassionately.
  • Adheres to TSA code of ethics, program standards, policies, and licensing requirements.
  • Assists with family-style dining and promotes healthy eating habits aligned with CACFP.
  • Ensures the classroom and outdoor areas are safe and clean, complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintains children's files as per director’s instructions and funding regulations.
  • Documents daily attendance, health checks, and other essential records accurately.
  • Completes developmental assessments and parent conferences promptly.
  • Participates in professional training and mandatory compliance courses annually.
  • Supports Salvation Army campaigns and initiatives, including field trips.
  • Builds professional relationships with staff, families, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Acts as a mandated reporter for child abuse, reporting concerns immediately.
  • Maintains active supervision of children at all times, ensuring safety during breaks and transitions.
  • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates good judgment in all interactions.
Pay Rate

$19.00-$20.00/hr.

Working Conditions

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift up to 45 lbs, and operate necessary equipment. Complies with all health and safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Child Development Associate Teacher permit (California).
  • Pediatric/Infant CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Health screening (LIC503) with TB clearance.
  • Proof of vaccinations or exemption documentation.
  • Passes background checks conducted by DOJ and TSA.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Capable of caring for young children with patience and skill.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and multitask effectively.
  • Good relationship and communication skills.
