A leading educational institution in New Canaan is seeking an experienced teacher for a one-year maternity leave position. This role includes teaching in Fours and Pre-K classes, working collaboratively with a team to foster children's growth and learning in a safe, nurturing environment.
New Canaan Community Preschool is seeking an experienced teacher to fill a one (1) year maternity leave position for the 2025-2026 school year. For this position you will be placed in the Fours Class for three (3) months and then the Pre-K Class for three (3) months as part of their teaching teams. For the remainder of the year, you will serve as a floater and assist where needed.
Applicants should keep in mind that this position is for one (1) year only. This is a great opportunity for a student or new teacher who is looking for some hands-on classroom experience and would like to learn from experienced teachers.
Candidates should have completed or be presently enrolled in an Early Childhood program whether Associates, Bachelors, or CDA. Successful candidates will possess outstanding skills as part of a collaborative teaching team that consists of a Head Teacher and a Teacher Assistant. The Head Teacher and Teacher share all classroom responsibilities and duties. Having experience teaching in a play-based program with young children, knowledge of the Project Approach, Developmentally Appropriate Practice and the CTEDLS/CTDOTS is a plus.
Hours are from 8:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday, annual salary. Health Benefits available after a three-month probation. The position begins August 25, 2025 to June 5, 2026.
·Work under the direction of the Director of Education and alongside other NCCP teachers and staff.
·Must have a warm personality, love of children and be able to work in a team-teaching setting.
·Supervision of children to ensure a safe and healthy environment inside and outside.
·Assist with planning and implementation of daily activities through hands on experiences in a center-based classroom.
·Lead interactive Meeting Times.
·Serve as a positive role model to the children while providing a program that fosters children’s social/emotional, physical, creative and cognitive development.
·Be comfortable communicating with families regarding their child’s day.
Compile information and prepare assessments for two annual parent-teacher conferences.
