Job description

The Lead Teacher is responsible for implementing the curriculum in the classroom and for the supervision and management of children in the classroom. He or she must be knowledgeable in developmentally appropriate practices to supervise assistant teachers and children in their room ensuring activities and curriculum are adhered to as required by the Director.

This position is for our Ponte Vedra Location.

Responsibilities:
  1. Completes all academy and classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports.
  2. Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested.
  3. Helps and supervises children during all activities and counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise.
  4. Prepares and implements classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules.
  5. Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained.
  6. Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/materials for classroom activities.
  7. Helps children with meal times and clean-up.
  8. Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly.
  9. Physically arranges the classroom into well-defined interest areas.
  10. Directs activities of other staff in the classroom to ensure that the classroom functions in an orderly manner.
  11. Communicates appropriate information to parents and maintains developmental profiles for children.
  12. Schedules and conducts parent/teacher conferences throughout the year.
  13. Maintains family information board and other classroom bulletin boards.
  14. Ensures that classroom medication schedule is followed.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Must be at least 21 years old.
  2. Must possess a CDA or higher in Early Childhood Education with 45 hours training in Early Childhood Education/Child Development.
  3. Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state for this position.
  4. Classroom teaching experience in an accredited early childhood facility is a plus.
  5. Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality.
  6. Highly professional and dependable.
  7. Must be able to interact appropriately with students of all ages and skill levels as well as with parents, coworkers, and management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
