Essential Functions

• Manage classroom ensuring compliance with MSDE-OCC regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Create a welcoming environment for children, parents, and visitors.
• Maintain attractive and current classroom displays and parent boards.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate, stimulating lesson plans aligned with weekly themes and curriculum.
• Supervise children during activities, using positive discipline techniques.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the classroom environment.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately.
• Support and direct assistant teachers to ensure smooth classroom operation.
• Communicate effectively with parents and address concerns promptly.
• Identify and resolve classroom and school issues collaboratively.

Qualifications

Physical Demands: Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds).

Education/Experience: Minimum of 90 clock hours in Child Development and Curriculum Planning plus 1 year experience in a licensed preschool classroom, or equivalent college hours and experience. Additional training in communication is required. Preferred: AA or BA in early childhood education or related field, MD State Credential Level 5.
