The Kreher Preserve & Nature Center is seeking a Preschool Teacher to plan, implement, and oversee the daily program for Woodland Wonders Nature Preschool and related camps in Auburn. You will create an emergent, outdoor-focused curriculum and guide children’s learning across physical, social, emotional, and cognitive domains.

You will document health and development observations, communicate with families, and collaborate with educators and specialists.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Development, Natural Sciences, or related field with 1 year outdoor learning experience.
  • Experience in outdoor, nature-based learning environments with young children.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • TB Skin Test, CPR, and First Aid within 60 days of hire.

Overview

The Preschool Teacher plans, creates, and implements the dailyprogram for preschool learning environments at the Kreher Preserve& Nature Center (KPNC), including Woodland Wonders NaturePreschool and preschool camps throughout the year.


Responsibilities


  • Plans and implements an emergent curriculum for a group ofchildren consistent with developmentally appropriate earlychildhood education practice. Plans, implements, and evaluates adaily program which includes identifying outdoor environments foroptimal learning, and developing planning materials and activitiesthat facilitate active learning for the children.

  • Mentors and facilitates the physical, social, emotional, andcognitive development of children through natural, outdoorenvironments. Documents all areas of children’s health anddevelopment, and communicates observations with parents,caregivers, and/or medical professionals. Provides, instructs, andmonitors children in the use of a variety of learning materials andresources for use in educational activities.

  • Participates in modeling best nature-education practices forundergraduate students completing course requirements orinternships.

  • Collaborates with the community representatives such astherapists, specialists, and psychologists as needed. Administersmedication per doctor's prescribing instructions.

  • Communicates with parents on a daily basis to keep theminformed of the daily progress of their children.

  • Some travel within the region and occasional travelout-of-state.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree In Early Childhood Education and Development,Natural Sciences, or a related field and 1 year of experience in anoutdoor, nature-based learning environment with youngchildren.


Desired


  • Master's degree in related field.

  • Experience working in a nature preschool or forest school.


Licenses & Certifications


  • Valid Driver's License.

  • TB Skin Test - Upon Hire

  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation - within 60 Days

  • First Aid Certification - within 60 Days
