Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience with preschool children in a child care setting preferred.
• Experience with progressive education preferred.
• Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team; develop skills with individuals, small groups, and the whole class.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of children during all activities.
• Promote exploration, creativity, and discovery and stimulate each child's individual development.
• Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
• Work cooperatively with other teachers, therapists and administrators.
• Assist in preparing materials and maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment.
• Ensure that all Bank Street College, New York City Department of Health/Bureau of Day Care, and New York City Department of Education, CACFP guidelines followed with support from your teaching team and supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned by Director.
