Preschool Substitute/Floater Teacher

Description:
The Preschool Substitute Teacher will support the Teaching Team in implementing daily routines, leading activities, modeling Christian values, and ensuring children’s safety and supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the welfare, health, and safety of children at all times.
- Report suspected child abuse or neglect following DCFS guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of staff, children, and family information.
- Substitute for classroom teachers as needed, including absences and break coverage.
- Assist in implementing daily activities and maintaining a clean classroom.
- Perform daily health checks and supervise children indoors and outdoors.
- Greet children and engage with parents/guardians.
- Prepare and serve snacks, accommodating dietary needs.
- Observe and document children’s learning progress.
- Follow playground and classroom routines, including cleanup schedules.
- Incorporate faith components in interactions, such as prayer and Bible stories.
- Report accidents/incidents immediately to the Director or Assistant Director.
- Attend training sessions and workshops.
- Ensure compliance with licensing and inspection standards.
- Communicate with team and leadership about student needs.
- Avoid personal cell phone use during work hours when children are present.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
- Meet DCFS licensing requirements for Early Childhood roles.
- Complete Illinois Mandated Reporter, SUID, SIDS, CPR/First Aid, Heimlich training.
- Maintain current physical and TB tests.
- Membership in Gateways to Opportunity Registry.
- Complete 15 hours of in-service training annually.
- Obtain Food Handler Certification.

- Stand, stoop, bend, carry children up to 50 pounds, sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
- Visual abilities include close, distant, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and focus adjustment.
