Job summary

The Arc Mid Hudson’s Brookside School in Cottekill is seeking a Substitute Preschool Special Education Teacher. The role focuses on integrated education to prepare students for kindergarten or school-age programs, addressing multiple developmental domains.

Responsibilities include developing goals, weekly lesson plans, and collaborating with staff and service providers, plus communicating effectively with families and completing necessary screenings and documentation.

Qualifications

• Provide educational services in an integrated setting to prepare students for entry into kindergarten or a school-age special education program.
• Address Social and Emotional Development, Language Development and Communication Skills, Cognitive Development/Intellectual Abilities, Motor Development, Personal Health and Safety Skills, and Approaches to Learning.
• Develop and carry out goals and objectives, and present progress at annual reviews for each preschool student with a disability.
• Develop developmentally-appropriate activities based on indicators for kindergarten readiness and IEP goals.
• Develop weekly lesson plans and assure availability for all classroom staff.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with parents using daily notes, phone contact, conferences, Remind app, and involving parents in classroom activities.
• Complete preschool screenings and testing for Universal Pre-K students.
• Collaborate with related service providers to support students in the classroom.
• Maintain required documentation including IEP updates, Progress Notes, and Annual Progress Summaries.
• Complete mandatory trainings and pursue ongoing professional growth.
