Job summary

Sleeping Giant School in Steamboat Springs is seeking a full-time Preschool Paraprofessional to provide 1:1 support in the classroom for the 26-27 school year.

Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher, you will assist with instructional plans and IEP goals, observe student progress, support self-help skills, and participate in planning behavioral objectives and cross-disciplinary training activities within a dynamic PK-8 setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in ECE or 15 completed credits in ECE
• Experience teaching young children
• Ability to work cooperatively on a team
• Adequate mobility to restrain students and lift moving objects
• Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• Able to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in clerical and computer skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to students in classroom activities and adaptations
• Assist teacher with instructional plans and individual IEP goals
• Follow directions from instructional staff and licensed ECSE teacher
• Observe and record student progress in academic areas
• Modify written or oral directed activities
• Assist with self-help skills (personal care, routines)
• Assist in planning behavioral objectives
• Attend meetings with Lead Teacher regarding student needs
• Communicate daily with Lead Teacher
• Provide multi-disciplinary training and carry out objectives (OT, PT, SP/L)
• Take initiative when modifying or working one-on-one
• Support, implement, and document objectives for Teaching Strategies GOLD
• Help develop and manage learning centers
• Attend appropriate workshops and in-services when requested
• Distribute and organize IEP paperwork and communicate with parents
