Job summary

Foundation for Blind Children in Phoenix, AZ seeks a full-time Special Education Teacher for a nine-month position. You will collaborate with teachers and staff to deliver individualized instruction under IEPs and FERPA guidelines.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Special Education, Arizona teaching certificate, CPR/First Aid, and experience with PECS and Structured Teaching. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, PTO, and life insurance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate required.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
  • Experience with PECS and Structured Teaching preferred.
  • Experience in teaching a self-contained classroom.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of IEP management systems.
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by AZ DPS, or ability to obtain.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Teacher of the Visually Impaired to adapt lessons.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
  • Provides IEP-related case management and ensures compliance with federal/state requirements.
  • Delivers direct instruction per individual education plans.
  • Maintains accurate data records as required.
  • Provides coaching and training to classroom staff on IEPs.
  • Supervises and evaluates paraprofessionals.
  • Maintains communication with parents/guardians.
  • Ensures a safe learning environment with effective classroom management.
  • Coordinates health monitoring andSupports para-educators' attention to health needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
